Coed softball champs defend title

BREWER – Maine Class A State Champions, the Portland Beverage Sharks coed slow-pitch softball team from Brewer, rolled through the field of 16 to defend their crown and win the 2006 Maine Class A/B Coed State Championship.

Great defense, solid hitting, aggressive base running and a strong sense of themselves as a team allowed the athletes to take on all challengers.

In the title game, the PB Sharks scored early and didn’t look back as they defeated Northern Signs from Waterville for the second straight year.

Those who would like to help the Sharks make the trip to play in the National Title series Oct. 13-15 in Columbia, S.C., may call Matt at 344-8125 by Sunday, Aug. 20. Corporate sponsor partners are encouraged to call.

Team members are Sabrina Leavitt Fogg, Jackie Knights Aspelund, Carolyn MacAvoy, Dawn Eaton, Beth Reindeau, Michelle Forst, Marc “Stormy” Inman, Rob White, Matt Aspelund, Jimi Caron, Marty Cushing, “The Brad” Strout, Donnie Strout and Mike Viani.
