FRIENDSHIP – A 59-year-old motorcyclist died Thursday after losing control of his 2006 Honda on Hoffses Corner on Finntown Road, apparently because of driver inexperience.

Ronald Dolliver of Waldoboro was taken to Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta, where he was pronounced dead, according to Knox County sheriff’s Sgt. Steven Burns on Thursday.

Dolliver was wearing a helmet, and it does not appear that speed or alcohol was involved, Burns said. The initial investigation indicates the accident was the result of driver inexperience, he said. Dolliver recently had purchased the motorcycle.

Around 1:50 p.m., Dolliver and Scott Dupuis, 35, no town available, were riding motorcycles together, heading east on Finntown Road toward Warren. When they approached Hoffses Corner, which is a sharp curve in the road, Dolliver lost control of his bike. As he attempted to regain control, the motorcycle lay on its left side and skidded into a ditch, Burns said.

Dolliver was thrown off the motorcycle, and the bike flew up into the air and landed on him, according to Burns.
