EXETER, N.H. – Charlotte Firestone of Bangor placed first for Maine and third overall in the intermediate ladies unrestricted free skate Saturday during the New Hampshire Figure Skating Festival, a tri-state competition.
More than 70 athletes from Maine, Vermont, and New Hampshire competed in the inaugural event with all Maine medalists qualifying for the 2007 State Games of America.
Other skaters from Maine winning medals were:
Amanda Calderwood of Richmond, third overall, second in Maine; Sophie Calderwood of Brunswick, fourth overall, third in Maine; Shania Hope Creamer of Damariscotta, second in basic grad-beginner unrestricted free skate, first in Maine; Benjamin Hope Creamer of Damariscotta, second in basic grad-beginner boys compulsory, first in Maine; Julia Gilman of Falmouth, first in pre-preliminary girls unrestricted free skate; Sarena Hall of Topsham, fifth in same event, second in Maine; Laura Carter of Falmouth, fourth in juvenile girls restricted free skate, first in Maine; Dane Carter of Falmouth, first in intermediate men’s unrestricted free skate, first in intermediate men’s short program; Gemma Carter of Falmouth, second in juvenile girls compulsory and juvenile girls unrestricted free skate, first in Maine; Mackenze Homer of Durham, second in intermediate girls unrestricted free skate, first in Maine; Monica Laverdiere of Eliot, third in senior ladies unrestricted, first in Maine; and first in senior ladies short program; and Jordan Driscoll of Yarmouth, fourth in novice ladies short program, first in Maine.
