A night out dancing turned disastrous for one woman at Club Gemini early Sunday morning when a man she didn’t know punched her in the face.

Police issued a summons for assault to Edgardo Rivera, 36, of Bangor around 2 a.m.

According to witnesses, a small scuffle took place in the club, after which Rivera punched a woman dancing onstage, then ran for the exit.

According to police documents, the woman identified Rivera, who was in the parking lot, and said she didn’t know him personally or do anything to warrant being punched.

The woman was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center. According to police documents, her nose was swollen, black and blue, and there was a cut on her face.

Upon questioning, Rivera said he did not recall hitting the woman. Police issued a summons for assault.

A Milford man was arrested for criminal trespass late Saturday night at Barnaby’s in Bangor.

Police documents state Barnaby’s manager, Free Martin, told Derek Hamel, 32, to leave the premises that night. Hamel was visibly intoxicated, slurring his speech and swaying. Police stepped in when Hamel began arguing with Martin, refusing to leave.

He was escorted off the premises by police and was told he would be arrested if he returned. Approximately one minute later, Hamel walked back into the lobby and again refused to leave.

He was arrested and taken to Penobscot County Jail and was charged with criminal trespassing.

A rowdy patron at a street dance Saturday found himself behind bars instead of at the bar.

Police arrested Broc Fleming, 22, of Bangor for disorderly conduct around 11 p.m. Saturday at Carolina’s Sports and Spirits on Union Street.

Police documents state Carolina’s management requested that police remove Fleming from the street dance that night. A police statement indicated he had been pushing another patron around and had thrown a drink in a man’s face.

He was walking with some friends toward the Infinity Credit Union parking lot when an officer saw him punch another man. Police intervened and arrested Fleming for disorderly conduct. He started to resist arrest and police had to use force to handcuff him.
