WERU-FM, a nonprofit community radio station, will broadcast live performances and interviews during two days of the American Folk Festival in Bangor later this month, the station said Monday.
As a noncommercial radio station, WERU-FM 89.9 and 102.9 is able to broadcast live from the event with no advertising interruptions.
The diverse genres of music featured at the festival reflect the type of musical offering broadcast from the station in East Orland.
The station will broadcast live from the Heritage Stage on the second and third days of the festival, Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 26-27.
The broadcasts will be available on both of the station’s signals, 89.9 FM in Blue Hill and 102.9 FM in Bangor, as well as through the WERU Web site: www.weru.org.
The American Folk Festival is a free, three-day event held along the Bangor Waterfront to present a variety of arts, music, and folk arts that reflect America’s multicultural heritage.
It was created in 2005 after the National Folk Festival attracted thousands of people to the waterfront during the three years that Bangor hosted that festival.
Information about the festival is available at: www.americanfolkfestival.com
