2 local students are honored as new Eagle Scouts

BANGOR – An Eagle Scout Court of Honor was held for Benjamin Robie and Christopher Hopper on April 28 at All Souls Congregational Church.

One hundred fifty family members, friends, Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts attended the ceremony. Robie and Hopper are members of Troop 10, sponsored by All Souls Congregational Church and led by Scout Master Angus Morrison.

Robie’s Eagle Scout project was completed at Fields Pond Audubon Center in Holden. He enhanced accessibility and usability of the center through the construction and installation of three benches, a picnic table and a bicycle rack.

Hopper’s Eagle Scout project consisted of clearing trails, constructing a 16-foot bridge over a stream and building and installing two benches. This project was the beginning of the new public trail system located at the Buck Hill-Jones Farm Woodland in Veazie. The Veazie Conservation Commission sponsored the project.

Robie is the son of Bruce and Kathy Robie of Holden.

Hopper is the son of Edward and Catherine Hopper of Veazie.

Both Eagle Scouts will be juniors at Bangor High School this fall.
