At a special election Tuesday, Andre E. Cushing III was elected to fill the at-large Town Council seat vacated by the June resignation of Carl Pease. Cushing won 84 of a total 94 votes and will be sworn in at the Monday, Aug. 21, council meeting, according to Town Clerk Denise Hodsdon. Nine votes went to valid write-in candidates, but one other vote was deemed invalid because the voter checked the write-in box but didn’t fill in a name, she said. Cushing’s term expires in December.
