Abouleish, Gard each score as Houlton blanks Madawaska

MADAWASKA – Sharif Abouleish and Jordan Gard each tallied a goal to lead the Houlton Shiretowners to a 2-1 high school boys soccer victory over the Madawaska Owls Friday.

Chris Howland assisted on Abouleish’s goal for 1-0 Houlton. Eben Thompson made 10 saves on 11 shots for the Shiretowners.

Madawaska scored on an own-goal by Houlton and Chad Bechard made 11 saves on 13 shots for the 0-2 Owls.

Washburn 11, Wisdom 1

At Washburn, Matt Connolly, Caio Holland and Ethan Doody each scored two goals apiece to lead 2-0 Washburn past Wisdom.

Connolly tallied three assists, Holland had one and Doody notched two. Adam Thompson scored a goal and added an assist and Steve Pesut had a goal and an assist. Adam Wilcox, Alex Morrow and Nick McIntost each scored a goal for the Beavers. Shayne Stevens made six saves on eight shots.

Alex Michaud scored the lone goal for Wisdom of St. Agatha. Curtis Collin made 18 saves on 35 shots for the Pioneers.

Van Buren 3, Ashland 0

At Van Buren, Alex Martin knocked in two goals and Riley Lizotte added another as the Crusaders blanked the Hornets.

Ben Doucette notched an assist for 2-0 Van Buren. Andrew Taylor saved seven of nine shots.

Kevin Baker had 25 saves on 32 shots for 0-1 Ashland.

Cen. Aroostook 4, LCS/MSSM 1

At Limestone, Sam Clockedile netted three goals and Blake McCarthy added another as Central Aroostook of Mars Hill downed Limestone Community School/Maine School of Science and Mathematics.

Logan McCarthy made five saves on seven shots for the 3-0 Panthers.

Chris Kirchner scored the Eagles only goal and AJ Rossignol made faced 29 shots and made 18 saves.

Girls soccer

Van Buren 4, Ashland 0

At Van Buren, Megan Lajoie netted two goals and tallied an assist to lead Van Buren over Ashland.

Kyla Ayotte and Kelly Vaillancourt each scored a goal and Taylor Parent notched an assist for the 2-0 Crusaders. Jennifer Ouellette saved the only shot she faced.

Taylor Baker made 12 saves on 16 shots for the 0-1 Hornets.
