KENNEBUNKPORT – President Bush is expected to visit his parents’ summer retreat in Maine next weekend for the first time in nearly two years.

Bush is scheduled to arrive Thursday at Walker’s Point, where he’ll spend the weekend with his parents, former President George H.W. Bush and Barbara Bush.

The president will be in town to attend a relative’s wedding, said Tom Frechette, spokesman for the president’s father.

While at Walker’s Point, Bush typically goes fishing and golfing.

It has been awhile since he came to Maine. Former President Clinton has visited Kennebunkport twice since the president’s last visit.

Bush visited Walker’s Point in Augusta and September 2004 during his re-election campaign.

The president had planned to come to Maine last fall, but Hurricane Katrina and the flooding in New Orleans got in the way, Frechette said.
