Bangor police arrested a Bangor man Saturday and charged him with domestic assault after he pulled his girlfriend to the ground, according to the police report.
A witness told police he saw Jerry Burns, 28, grab the 31-year-old woman by her hair and throw her off the porch from the steps of their Sanford Street home.
The witness reported that the woman struggled to stand up and that he saw Burns take off on foot in the direction of Third and Union streets.
When Bangor police Officer Kevin MacLaren arrived, he noticed the woman walked with a limp, and he saw that her leg was scraped and swollen. MacLaren asked the Bangor woman what happened, but she refused to discuss the alleged fight, the report stated.
The woman told police that while she worked, Burns took care of the couple’s 2-year-old son, who was in the house during the alleged scuffle.
Police eventually caught Burns, who was convicted of assault in 2001, at Third and Cedar streets.
