OXFORD – Ben Rowe of Turner became a four-time winner on the American-Canadian Tour by winning Saturday night’s New England Dodge Dealers 150 at Oxford Plains Speedway.

The two-time TD Banknorth 250 champion used a three-wide pass to squeeze by runner-up Phil Scott of Middlesex, Vt., and then-leader Doug Coombs of Livermore on the 129th lap to take the lead, but it was anything but secure until Coombs lost control of his car and veered over the top of turn three while attempting to reclaim the top spot.

Scott led the first 83 laps and finished one spot shy of his first ACT victory since 2000. Jamie Fisher of Shelburne, Vt., took advantage of Coombs’ late race misfortune to finish third. Roger Brown of Lancaster, N.H., was fourth and Turner’s Shawn Martin wound up fifth.

Speedway 95

At Hermon, five caution flags and a collision in the final race of the Dysart’s Sport Four Series failed to keep Justin Trombley of Winter Harbor from finishing first.

Trombley collided with Mike Hopkins of Hermon on the final lap, but Trombley regained control and Hopkins faded to finish fourth.

Reggie Bickford, who’d been running third all race long, finished second and won the three-race championship series. Dixmont’s Lewis Batchelder was third and Spencer Garvin of Belfast was fifth.

Wiscasset Raceway

At Wiscasset, Puncin St. Clair of Liberty had a chance to do what only one other driver in Wiscasset Raceway history has done, and that was winning a series championship without the benefit of a feature win. That was until Saturday night, when St. Clair notched his first win this season on family fun night.

St. Clair started out sixth and survived several late race restarts to win the 30-lap late model sportsman race under a caution flag. Jerry Reynolds of Liberty was second and Nick Reno of West Bath wound up third. Mike Orr of Wiscasset and Waldo’s Seth Raven were fourth and fifth, respectively.

Unity Raceway

At Unity, rain washed out four of the six races on Saturday night’s racing card at Unity Raceway, but not before the Wicked Good Racing Antique and Sun Auto & Salvage mini trucks races saw the checkered flags come out.

James Sprague exploded out of the starting gate and surged to a big lead, but late in the race, he became bogged down in lapped traffic and allowed Robbie Clark to pass and finish with the win. Alan Gassett was second and Sprague third. Tom Clark was fourth and Roger Belanger fifth.

Rain sprinkles started just after the green flag was waved, but that didn’t keep Kevin Nutting of Benton from exploding out of the start and never looking back. Chad Elkins of Shawmut was runner-up and Jamie Foster of Benton was third. James Swan, Jr. of Clinton finished fourth and Mike Rackliff of Stark was fifth.

Next week, the Budweiser wildcats, Sunoco super street, White & Bradstreet mini stocks, and Coca-Cola late model pro fours will have double features to make up for the rainouts.
