UBS downs Montville for Bay League crown

HERMON – UBS defeated Montville 2-1 and 3-0 in a best-of-three baseball series for the Bay League Championship in Hermon Saturday.

In the first game, UBS rallied for two runs in the seventh inning to beat Montville. Jeames Gray’s sacrifice fly drove in the winning run while Craig Harvey drove in the first run. Chris McInnis and Bodie Abbot each hit a single for UBS.

Nate Hall had 15 strikeouts on the mound for Montville while Gerald Hewes had a double and an RBI.

In the second game, McInnis had an RBI single in the second inning and scored a run while Harvey and Abbott each added a single for the winners.

Nate Hall hit a double while George Tripp and Greg Thayer each singled for Montville.
