After-school program

BANGOR – C.L.A.E. School of the Arts is expanding its offerings this fall with the addition of an alternative after-school program for children in grades four through eight.

The nonprofit organization has as its goal “to provide a safe and fun environment” for each child, said Faye McDermott, one of the founders of the school at 96 Harlow St., suites 115, 116 and 120. “A warm, friendly and welcoming atmosphere is shared by all.”

The program follows the Bangor school schedule and is open until 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Openings are available full and part time, with weekly and daily rates.

From its beginnings, C.L.A.E. School has offered clay animation and animation filmmaking.

Additional activities include interactive games, board games, homework time and assistance, movie time, library and reading area and relaxation time.

Pupils also may choose to participate in drawing, scratch art, clay beading, jewelry beading, comic book illustrating and writing, baking clay pots, painting with water colors, computer art and collage making.
