SURRY – A conference on autism spectrum disorders and music therapy is planned Saturday, Aug. 26, at the Surry Music Therapy Center.
Autism can be broadly defined as a disability that significantly affects a person’s social functioning, and music therapy is a clinical and behavioral treatment that can often stimulate, motivate and integrate autistic people’s strengths and potential.
The 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. conference will be at the therapy center on Route 176, about 21/2 miles from Surry village.
