NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – Brandon Moss and Brian Myrow drove in two runs each Sunday as the Portland Sea Dogs whitewashed the New Britain Rock Cats 4-0 in a rain-shortened, five-inning game.

The Sea Dogs scored three runs in the first inning off Adam Harben (4-9). Keoni DeRenne reached on an infield hit, Luis Jimenez was hit by a pitch and Moss hit a two-run double.

Moss advanced on a passed ball and scored on a single by Myrow. Myrow drove in the fourth run on a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning.

Devern Hansack (7-7) was Portland’s scheduled starter, but ended up pitching the final three innings to gain the win. Relievers Barry Hetzler and Mike Bumatay pitched the first and second respectively.

The Rock Cats managed just three hits, singles by Denard Span and Alexi Casilla, and a double by Matt Moses. Harben went the distance, yielded three earned runs on five hits, walked three and struck out seven.

In Saturday night’s game, the top three in the batting order reached base nine times and three New Britain pitchers combined on a four-hitter to stifle the Sea Dogs 6-1.
