Legge lifts Bears past Rams

ORONO – Gina Legge scored the game-winning goal on the last play and 70th minute of regulation off a penalty corner the University of Maine field hockey team to a 3-2 victory over the University of Rhode Island Monday.

Katie Flaherty picked up the assist on the goal by Legge. Kim MacDonald and Nicole Emery each netted a goal while Kristen Costa and Legge each recorded an assist. Maygan Cassarino made three saves on eight shots for the 2-0 Black Bears.

Lauren Lipski and Jen Cetenich each scored for Rhode Island. M.J. Britt stopped 11 of 21 shots for the 0-2 Rams.
