Engineering staff

BANGOR – WBRC Architects and Engineers has announced recently that six employees have joined the firm in the Bangor office. They are:

. John Poulin, structural engineer. He has more than 10 years of experience and was previously a senior structural engineer at Boston Building Consultants in Boston. His background includes the design of various structural systems, including structural steel, reinforced concrete, engineered wood and masonry. He’s managed projects including residences, office buildings, schools, athletic facilities, libraries and auditoriums. Poulin also is experienced in the adaptive reuse of existing buildings and the structural stabilization of historic buildings. He graduated from the University of Maine with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering in 1994 and a master’s degree in civil engineering in 2001. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in Massachusetts.

. Andrew Rudnicki, mechanical engineer intern. He is a graduate of the University of Maine with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering technology and has ample customer service experience. He is currently working on HVAC renovations to 80 Exchange St. in Bangor – the former Merrill Bank – and renovating the Helen Hunt School in Old Town for the new home of Old Town Family Practice.

. Melanie Israel, marketing assistant. She has more than 12 years experience in marketing including retail, financial, manufacturing and nonprofit environments. She has a master’s degree in business from Husson College.

. Lura Carroll, electrical engineer intern. She graduated from the University of Maine with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.

. Shane Dunn, architectural intern. He graduated from Syracuse University with a bachelor’s degree in architecture and has experience with design, drafting, 3-D models and construction. He is working on the Stockton Springs roof repair-replacement project.

. Elise Chasse, architectural intern. She graduated from Roger Williams University with a bachelor’s degree in architecture. She has experience with drafting, model building, field work, photography and customer service. She is working on the Penobscot Bay Medical Center expansion project and the renovations to the Bangor Savings Bank first floor at 99 Franklin St. in Bangor.

WBRC Architects and Engineers is one of the largest and most experienced architectural and engineering firms in Maine, with offices in Bangor and in Sarasota, Fla.

Its portfolio of projects includes business and institution, education, land use, renovations, facilities management and interior design. Founded in 1902 as a two-person office, WBRC Architects and Engineers has grown to a firm of more than 60 employees, including registered architects, interior designers, professional engineers and designers experienced in civil, structural, mechanical and electrical systems, imaging and construction administration.

Current projects are: Bangor Police Station, Waterworks and Penn National Gaming in Bangor; Immaculate Conception Church in Calais; Thompson Free Library in Dover-Foxcroft; Penobscot Bay Medical Center in Rockport; and Old Town Family Practice.

Marketing coordinator

WINTERPORT – Teresa Barnett has moved up to the executive coordinator level as an independent distributor for Market America, a product brokerage and Internet marketing company.

Barnett’s experience includes sales, leadership and management in motivating and training other distributors. She joined Market America in January.

A Bizarre Bazaar

HAMPDEN – The Penobscot Valley Electrical Association will not hold its regular meeting on the first Tuesday of the month.

Instead, the group will hold a combined meeting with the Illuminating Engineering Society at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12, at the Hampden VFW on Canoe Club Road.

Dick Hill, retired professor of mechanical engineering at the University of Maine, will give a program on “The Energy Marketplace: A Bizarre Bazaar.”

PVEA is an organization of electricians and others interested and involved in the electrical trade.

The Illuminating Engineering Society is an organization that brings together lighting professionals and seeks to improve the lighted environment.

Dinner will be served by the Hampden VFW Ladies Auxiliary. The cost of the meal is $9, and all are welcome.
