The 1-0 Eagles tallied an own goal in the 82nd minute on an errant USM clearing attempt.

Mindy Morneault made four saves for the 0-2 Huskies.

Maine 2, Canisius 0

At Windsor, Conn., Laura Harper scored both goals to lead the University of Maine past Canisius College Sunday.

Kim Stephenson assisted Harper’s second goal for the 3-0-1 Black Bears. Jasmine Phillips blocked all three shots.

Jenna Gage had five saves on seven shots for 1-3-0 Canisius.

Football

Pace 27, Husson 14

At Pleasantville, N.Y., Saturday, Chris Anzano had five punt returns for 105 yards, including a 56-yarder for a touchdown, as the Setters edged the Eagles. Both teams had six turnovers.

Husson’s Shane Rogers had a 46-yard interception return for a TD and Tom Lasko hauled in a 14-yard scoring pass from David Chase. Darius Charlton rushed for 79 yards.

Volleyball

Kansas, Temple top Maine

At Philadelphia Saturday, Kansas defeated the Black Bears 30-22, 31-29, 30-17 in the first of two matches in the Temple Invitational. Temple won the second in four games 30-10, 21-30, 30-21, 30-28.

In the opener, Savannah Noyes led 3-0 Kansas with 13 kills. Maine’s Jessica Wolfenden had 12 kills and Lindsay Allman added 10 kills.

In the second, Yue Liu racked up 24 kills for the Owls. Allman recorded 11 kills and Brittany Kiehl had 10 kills against 3-1 Temple. Shelly Seipp had 36 assists and five services aces for 0-6 Maine.

Men’s soccer

Husson 4, Maine Maritime 0

At Bangor Saturday, Nathan Carter scored twice for the Eagles.

Hiroshi Iwabuchi scored a goal and provided two assists for 1-0 Husson. Oscar Ody also scored and Jon Couie turned away six shots.

Josh Heath stopped 11 of 15 shots for 0-1 Maine Maritime.

Holy Cross 2, Maine 0

At Worcester, Mass., Saturday, Alex Cruz scored three minutes into the first half as Holy Cross shut down Maine.

Felipe Castrillon added a goal for 2-0 Holy Cross. Keith Bauer saved all three shots.

Giacomo Brunino made five saves on seven shots for the 0-4 Black Bears.

Field hockey

Northwestern 4, Maine 3

At Evanston, Ill., Sunday, Katie Charles’ goal in the 43rd minute helped Northwestern rally from a 3-1 deficit.

Jill Putnam, Christina Foley and Cassie Miller scored for 3-1 Northwestern. Emily Kyle made five saves on nine shots.

Joanna Fernandez and Nicole Emery each tallied a goal and an assist for the 3-2 Black Bears. Amy Zdrojesky also scored a goal. Rebecca Giroux stopped 14 of 19 shots.

Maine 2, Missouri State 0

At Evanston, Ill., Saturday, Nicole Emery scored two first-half goals to power the Bears.

Erin Reusch and Amy Zdrojesky provided assists for 3-1 Maine. Rebecca Giroux faced no shots.

Kim Kinsella made 12 saves on 15 shots for 0-3 Missouri State.
