Crimson starts fast to beat Black Bears

ORONO – Michael Fucito and Adam Rousmaniere each scored first half goals to lead Harvard University to a 3-1 men’s soccer win over the University of Maine Tuesday.

Charles Altchek added a tally in the second half for 1-1 Harvard. Adam Hahn made two saves on nine shots.

Anastasiou Dimitri scored 0-4 Maine’s lone goal. Giacomo Brunino had six saves on 15 shots.

USM 3, Maine Maritime 2 (OT)

At Castine, Golf Pengthong was in the right place at the right time six minutes into overtime and headed a deflected save back toward and into the net for the game-winning goal in the University of Southern Maine’s victory.

Sinisia Bajic scored a goal in the first half to USM a 1-0 lead and Gabe Labbe of Eliot tied it at 2-2 with a second half goal for the 1-2 Huskies. Chris Lapointe of Eliot and Greg Cox each had assists. Chris Willard made four saves on nine shots.

Josh Coffin of Hampden scored his first collegiate goal to tie the game in the first half off an assist from Andy Pease of Old Town. MMA took a 2-1 lead on an own goal off Cassidy Neal. Josh Heath of Bangor made eight saves on 26 shots for the 0-2 MMA Mariners.
