Hornets rally for win Nemer nets three goals in 2nd half

EASTON – Carl Nemer scored three goals, all in the second half, as the Ashland Hornets rallied to beat the Easton Bears 3-2 in a high school boys soccer match Tuesday.

Jacob Paradis and Chris Good each grabbed an assist on the goals by Nemer. Kevin Baker made six saves on 19 shots for the Hornets.

Brad Trask and Nick Flewelling each netted a goal for Easton while Nate Sanders recorded an assist on Sanders’ goal. Jeremy Brock stopped 17 of 33 shots for the Bears.

Caribou 1, Houlton 0

At Houlton, Kyle Corrigan scored what proved to be the game-winning goal with 11 minutes remaining in the first half to lead Caribou by Houlton.

Chad McCarthy stopped all three shots he faced for the 3-2 Vikings.

Eben Thompson made 11 saves on 12 shots for the 3-3 Shiretowners.

Van Buren 11, Wisdom 0

At St. Agatha, Alex Martin recorded three goals as Van Buren shut out Wisdom.

Riley Lizotte and Brandon Boulware each scored two goals for Van Buren while David Levasseue, Matt Buskirk, Ben Doucette and Keith Vaillancourt each added a goal. Logan Ouellette made two saves on two shots for the 7-0 Crusaders.

Curtis Collin stopped 14 of 25 shots for the 0-7 Pioneers.

Fort Fairfield 4, Hodgdon 2

At Hodgdon, Fort Fairfield scored three goals in 1:36, highlighted by two goals from Brendon McLaughlin, as it defeated Hodgdon.

Cody Closson also netted two goals for Fort Fairfield while Jordan Buhro made five saves on 11 shots for the Tigers.

Alex Harris and Seth Dorr each scored a goal for Hodgdon. Jordan Guy recorded the assist on Harris’ goal. Jamie Ryan made nine saves on 19 shots for the Hawks.

C. Aroostook 5, Washburn 1

At Mars Hill, Manny Martinez and Sam Clockedile each netted two goals to lead Central Aroostook by Washburn.

Logan Thomas added a goal while Blake McCarthy, Travis McDonald and Clockedile each grabbed an assist. Logan McCarthy made 14 saves on 17 shots for the 8-0-1 Panthers.

Ethan Doody scored the goal for Washburn while Shayne Stevens and Steven Pesut combined for 20 saves on 26 shots for the 5-1-2 Beavers.

Fort Kent 2, Madawaska 0

At Fort Kent, Joe Soucy and Derek Bonenfant scored unassisted goals to lift the Warriors to their second victory.

Soucy scored on a direct kick from about 30 yards away with 29:49 left in the opening half. Bonenfant added an insurance goal with 2:15 left in the match.

Matt Harvey made eight saves on 11 shots for 2-3-1 Fort Kent. Andrew Levesque made nine saves on 17 shots for 3-5-1 Madawaska.

Waterville 4, Nokomis 1

At Waterville, Noah Spofford knocked in three goals to lead Waterville past Nokomis of Newport.

Tory Quinn added another goal for the 1-1 Panthers and Nick Lee had nine saves on 14 shots.

Andrew Richard scored the lone goal for 0-2 Nokomis with an assist from Dan Kelly. Wayne May had 14 saves on 21 shots.

JV: Waterville 6-3

DI-Stonington 5, Sumner 1

At Deer Isle, brothers Collin and Bryant Ciomei combined for five goals to power the Mariners by the Tigers of East Sullivan.

Collin Ciomei, a junior, scored two first-half goals and Bryant, a senior, followed with three in the second half. Max Becton and Ray Garcia each notched an assist and Eben Powers made six saves on seven shots.

Dereck Crocker scored an unassisted second-half goal for Sumner and Andrew Bennett made 15 saves on 25 shots.

MDI 5, Bucksport 1

At Bucksport, Skylar Lewis and Tarek Dekkaki netted two goals apiece to lead Mount Desert Island to the win.

Nate Paine added a goal of his own for the1-1 Trojans. Jake Merchant had three saves on six shots.

Alex Pappas scored the lone goal for 0-2 Bucksport. Miles Bisher stopped 21 of 34 shots.

Old Town 2, Hampden 1

At Old Town, Corey Fournier’s goal midway through the second half off an assist by Dan LeBreton was the difference as the Coyotes edged the visiting Broncos.

Dillon Clark scored an unassisted goal for the 1-1 Coyotes and Sam Petrie made 14 saves on 15 shots.

Logan Larabee scored unassisted for Hampden Academy and Cam Cox saved 13 of 14 shots for the 1-1 Broncos.

JV: Hampden 11-0

Greenville 7, Valley 1

At Bingham, Richie Chilson and Will Wheelock each netted two goals to lead Greenville to victory.

Trevor McVey, Corey Woodbury and Keith Aucoin each added a goal for Greenville. Jon Richards and Tim Post each grabbed an assist. Post made eight saves on 10 shots for the Lakers.

Curtis Miller scored the goal for Valley while Jon Hunnewell stopped 12 of 38 shots for the Cavaliers.

Central 4, Bangor Christian 2

At Bangor, Danny Kane netted two unassisted goals to lead Central to victory over Bangor Christian.

Patrick Byers and Ryan Bean each added a goal for Central. Charles Haney stopped seven of 14 shots for the 1-0-1 Red Devils.

Phil Dougherty and Brandon Wilcox each scored while Nate Fowler and Zach Welch each grabbed an assist for Bangor Christian. Sam McLeod made 16 saves on 39 shots for the 1-1 Patriots.

Girls soccer

Van Buren 2, Wisdom 0

At St. Agatha, Taylor Parent scored an unassisted goal in the first half to lift the unbeaten Crusaders to their seventh win.

Megan Lajoie added a goal and Karie Ouellette an assist for the winners. Tricia Gagnon had two saves on four shots.

Kayla Daigle saved 28 of 30 shots for the 4-5 Pioneers.

Caribou 3, Houlton 0

At Caribou, Kristen Espling, Ali Richards and Meagan Bossie each scored a second half goal to lead Caribou to victory.

Jessica Kinney assisted on Richards’ goal and Brittany Doak stopped eight of 13 shots for the 2-2-1 Vikings.

Beth Tartonski made five saves on 17 shots for 1-4-1 Houlton.

JV: Caribou 2-0

Waterville 6, Nokomis 0

At Newport, Stephanie Whitten opened the scoring with her first of two goals to lead the 2-0 Panthers by the Warriors.

Kayla Tuttle, Taylor Frame Paige Gardiner and Stacie Whitten each contributed a goal for Waterville. Taylor Hart faced five shots in goal and saved all five.

Goalie Laura Lyford made 14 saves on 20 shots for the 0-2 Warriors.

JV: Waterville 5-1

Woodland 7, East Grand 2

At Woodland, Julia Nichols and Kacie Burke each scored a pair of goals as Woodland rolled past East Grand of Danforth.

Cassandra Brown, Brittany Carter and Ashley LeCroy netted a goal each for the Dragons. Cindy Bergin saved four of six shots.

Tisheea Roy and Malesa Zaneldin netted a goal apiece for East Grand. Courtney Lloyd had 36 saves on 42 shots.

Hodgdon 4, Fort Fairfield 0

At Hodgdon, Brianne McGary scored four unassisted goals as Hodgdon improved to 5-3.

Heather London saved all 13 shots she faced for the Hawks. Kellie Osgood had 16 saves on 23 shots for the 5-2 Tigers.

Washburn 4, C. Aroostook 0

At Mars Hill, Morgan Berube scored three goals and recorded an assist to lead Washburn by Central Aroostook.

Ashlee Wright added a goal for Washburn while Amber Palmer made three saves on seven shots for the 7-1 Beavers.

Desray Brewer made two saves on 10 shots for the 1-8 Panthers.

Calais 2, Shead 1

At Calais, Macey Gillespie scored what proved to be the game-winning goal to lead Calais by Shead.

Kayla Cobb started the scoring for Calais in the first half with an unassisted goal. Stephanie Perry made five saves on 10 shots for the 1-1-0 Blue Devils.

Whitney Vinson scored the tying goal for Shead while Dorothy Pottle made four saves on 10 shots for the 1-2 Tigerettes.

Ellsworth 4, Hermon 0

At Hermon, Lauren Peer knocked in a pair of goals to lead Ellsworth past Hermon.

Emily Miller and Jen Richter added a goal apiece for the 2-0 Eagles. Caitie Cravens saved all six shots she faced.

Danielle Ross had 16 saves on 20 shots for 0-1-1 Hermon.

GSA 4, Searsport 1

At Blue Hill, Maddi Park netted two goals to lead George Stevens Academy by Searsport.

Alida Peake scored a goal and grabbed an assist while Emily Peake added a goal. Lydia Clapp and Laura Overton each recorded an assist for George Stevens. Kayla Eaton made 13 saves on 17 shots for the 2-0 Eagles.

Megan Higgins scored for Searsport while Amanda Chaney stopped 21 of 26 shots for the 0-2 Vikings.

Washington Acad. 3, ‘Guagus 1

At East Machias, Jocelyn Corey had a goal and an assist to help lead Washington Academy past the Narraguagus Knights of Harrington.

Andi Flannery scored an unassisted goal and Lily Evans scored the other goal for the 1-0 Raiders. Irene Lewy made two saves on three shots.

Megan Nevells scored on a penalty kick and Samantha Baker had 19 saves on 30 shots for the 0-1 Knights.

Central 7, Penquis 1

At Corinth, Emily Blackwell scored two first-half goals and another in the second half to lead Central by Penquis.

Kelsey McHugh, Erica Brownell, Rachael Lewis and Nicole Lemarch each added a goal for Central. Jessica Daniel made four saves on five shots for the 1-1 Red Devils.

Kristin Burch scored the goal for Penquis with the assist coming from Kayla Webb. Shelisha Clark and Sara Lemik combined for 29 saves on 50 shots for the 0-2 Patriots.

Dexter 0, Piscataquis 0

At Guilford, the Pirates and Tigers battled to a double-overtime stalemate.

Ashley Richardson saved nine of 19 shots for the 1-0-1 Tigers while Jill Martell stopped 14 of 16 shots for 0-0-1 Piscataquis.

Lee 7, Schenck 1

At East Millinocket, Aarika Ritchie scored five goals as Lee Academy defeated Schenck.

Amanda Gifford netted two goals and recorded an assist for Lee. Amy Lane stopped one of four shots for the 1-0 Pandas.
