Collier sparks SAHS Warriors pull away for victory

STACYVILLE – Kaylea Collier scored three goals as Southern Aroostook of Dyer Brook pulled away for a 4-1 high school girls soccer victory over Katahdin Wednesday.

Collier scored once in the first half as the Warriors took a 1-0 lead at the break. Brittany Charette scored to give Southern Aroostook a 2-0 lead before Ronnie Robinson countered with Katahdin’s lone goal.

Collier added two insurance goals to put the game away.

Emily Cummings made 18 saves on 28 shots for Southern Aroostook. Kayla Stevens made eight saves on 13 shots for Katahdin.

LCS/MSSM 9, Easton 0

At Limestone, Kelly Peers and Brittany King netted two goals apiece as Limestone Community School/Maine School of Science and Math rolled past Easton.

Megan Leighton, Kylie Mulherin, Julie Peers, Ashley Kennedy and Logan Cousins added a goal apiece for the Eagles. Melanie Allen had four saves on seven shots.

Brianna White stopped 18 of 32 shots for Easton.

MCI 3, Camden Hills 1

At Pittsfield, Tiffany McLaggan scored all three goals for the victorious Huskies.

Kristen Sousa, Lauren Adams and Jenna Lorentsen had assists for Maine Central Institute. Bianca Asaro had 13 saves on 14 shots.

Emily Johnson scored for Camden Hills and Silvia Trenholm stopped eight of 11 shots.

Medomak 4, Rockland 3

At Rockland, Angie Abbott scored the second of her two goals with 1:37 left in the second overtime to lift the Panthers of Waldoboro to victory.

Samantha Olson and Stephanie Lee added a goal apiece for 1-1 Medomak Valley. Alison Cornforth had seven saves on 18 shots.

Baillie Boggs scored all three goals for the 1-1 Tigers, with Haley Wotton and Kiely McCrea getting assists. Kayla McGuire saved 19 of 24 shots.

JV: Medomak 2-1

Sumner 4, DI-Stonington 0

At Sumner, Kylie Bragdon tallied two goals and an assist to lead Sumner by Deer Isle-Stonington.

Lona Sargent netted a goal and grabbed an assist while Jen Arey added a goal for Sumner. Morgan Traxler stopped nine of 10 shots for the 1-0 Tigers.

Anika Powers made 12 saves on 16 shots for the 0-2 Mariners.

John Bapst 2, Foxcroft 2 (2OT)

At Bangor, Leslie Martin scored two goals for Foxcroft Academy as it battled John Bapst to a 2-2 tie through double overtime.

Kristina Hambrock and Kristin Willard netted a goal for John Bapst while Amber Estes and Maggie Kane each grabbed an assist. Caroline Cassling made seven saves on 10 shots for the 1-0-1 Crusaders.

Lindsay Chase recorded an assist for Foxcroft while Sarah Whittemore stopped 20 of 33 shots for the 0-0-2 Ponies.

JV: John Bapst 7-0

Boys soccer

Katahdin 6, So. Aroostook 1

At Stacyville, Marshall Davis scored two goals and recorded an assist to lead Katahdin by Southern Aroostook.

Ethan Qualey netted a goal and grabbed two assists. Andy Kay, Billy Duffy and Tom Anderson each added a goal for Katahdin. Matt Tarr made seven saves on 13 shots for the 3-1 Cougars.

Gary Sutherland scored a goal for Southern Aroostook of Dyer Brook with the assist coming from Tyler Robinson. Dylan Boulier stopped 11 of 12 shots for the 3-2 Warriors.

Easton 3, LCS/MSSM 2

At Limestone, Brad Trask scored two goals, including the game-winner 6:17 into the second half, to lead Easton by Limestone Community School/ Maine School of Science and Mathematics.

Corey White also netted a goal and grabbed an assist for Easton. Jeremy Brock stopped all 14 shots he faced for the Bears.

Bo Li scored two goals for the Eagles while Jordan Dolan added an assist. AJ Rossignol made 13 saves on 21 shots.

Woodland 3, Machias 1

At Machias, Cody Sappier, Ben Sears and Scott Boomer each netted a goal to lead Woodland to victory.

Chad James assisted on all three goals. Todd Townsend made 10 saves on 15 shots for the 1-0 Dragons.

Jacob Stevens scored for Machias while Mike Jenkins made seven saves on 15 shots for the 0-2 Bulldogs.

Calais 4, Shead 3

At Calais, Corey Johnston scored two goals, including the game winning goal with 2:03 remaining in the game, to lead Calais to the win.

John Deacon and Brandon Tomah each added a goal for Calais. Scott Geel made three saves on nine shots for the Blue Devils.

Aaron Sullivan scored two goals and Caleb Ricker had one for Shead. Nick Vinson made nine saves on 18 shots for the Tigers.

Camden Hills 9, MCI 2

At Rockport, Miles Davee and Christian Wincklhofer each scored two goals to lead Camden Hills by Maine Central Institute.

Casey O’Hara, Philip Curll, Peter Doubleday and Henry Marchetti each added a goal for Camden Hills. Thomas Sommo made six saves on 11 shots for the 2-0 Windjammers.

Owen Campbell and Dustin Varney each scored for MCI of Pittsfield while Dennis Moody made 11 saves on 21 shots for the 0-1-1 Huskies.

J-B Royals 2, Narraguagus 2

At Harrington, James Kelly scored with 12 seconds left in regulation to force overtime for the Royals as they tied Narraguagus in two overtimes.

Mikey Smith added another goal for 0-0-1 Jonesport-Beals. Jeremy Bassett made seven saves on 10 shots.

Steven Strout and Nick Bull tallied a goal apiece for the 0-0-1 Knights. Brandon Meserve had one save on three shots.

Orono 3, GSA 1

At Blue Hill, James Berry, Ian Staples and Mark Cloutier each netted a second half goal to overcome a 1-0 deficit and defeat George Stevens Academy.

Chris McConnon tallied two assists while Lee Hecker had one for Orono. Nate Peterson made no saves on one shot for the 2-0 Red Riots.

Dario Casadevall scored the goal for George Stevens while Rashad Frazier made eight saves on 11 shots for the 0-1-1 Eagles.

Piscataquis 2, Penquis 0

At Milo, Jarrod Robinson had a goal and assisted on another by Andy Zimmerman as Piscataquis of Guilford shut out Penquis.

Ryan Martell saved all seven shots he faced for 1-0-1 Piscataquis.

Brian Zwicker made 20 saves on 22 shots for 0-2 Penquis.

Dexter 3, Penobscot Valley 1

At Howland, Dan Beatham netted two goals and grabbed an assist to lead Dexter to the win.

David Wilks also scored a goal while Rick Stewart and Andrew Lary each had an assist for Dexter. Chris Eastman made seven saves on 11 shots for the 2-0 Tigers.

Ryan Ware scored for Penobscot Valley while Brian Harris stopped 12 of 22 shots for the 0-1-1 Howlers.
