Writing on behalf of the Hampden Historical Society, Barbara Jewell extends an invitation to everyone to attend its Heritage Day from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, at the Kinsley House, 83 Main Road South in Hampden.
Hosted at the historical society headquarters, rain or shine, this biannual event includes demonstrations of arts and crafts “of a bygone era, by crafters and exhibitors from all over Maine,” Jewell wrote.
During Heritage Day, you will enjoy watching cider pressing, blacksmithing, candle dipping, butter churning, and spinning, among other old-time activities.
On the grounds, you will find “a Cookie Lady for the children,” Jewell wrote, “and other refreshments will be on sale.”
In the Kinsley House barn, you will find a display of antique tools, and you can take a tour of the Kinsley House or the law office of Hannibal Hamlin, who was Abraham Lincoln’s first vice president.
“Admission to the events is free, as our contribution to the town,” Jewell explained.
“We hope to see you there.”
