INDIAN TOWNSHIP – A fourth person is being sought in connection with trafficking in prescription drugs after a three-month investigation by the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, officials said Thursday.
Police are seeking Anthony Newell, 36, who was charged with one count of trafficking in oxicodone.
Assistant District Attorney Joelle Pratt said that only recently has a court unsealed Newell’s arrest warrant. On July 18 Newell allegedly sold half of an 80-mg oxicodone pill to a confidential informant, Pratt said.
Newell was one of four people charged after the investigation.
Police said earlier that Frederick Thurlow, 59, and Belinda Lonseth, 48, were charged with one count each of trafficking in prescription drugs.
Almar Lonseth, 72, was charged with two counts of trafficking in prescription drugs. All three live at Indian Township. They were arrested last week.
The arrest warrants were issued after months of investigation. It was a confidential informant working with MDEA who allegedly bought the drugs from the four people.
The three are expected to appear in Washington County Superior Court in Machias next month.
