Porter sparks Presque Isle Fort Kent sweeps Penquis; Caribou, Bucksport split

HERMON – Sarah Porter scored three goals to lead unbeaten Presque Isle past Hermon 6-0 in a Class B girls soccer match Saturday.

Kayla Legasse, Brittany Bearden and Carmen Allen also scored for the 5-0 Wildcats. Molly Hamel made six saves on eight shots.

Danielle Ross stopped 19 of 26 shots for 0-3-1 Hermon.

JV: Presque Isle 3-0

Fort Kent 10, Penquis 0

At Fort Kent, Nicole Chasse had three goals and an assist and Brittany Theriault also scored three goals for the Warriors.

Taylor Boucher, Marissa Albert, Kasey Pelletier and Emily Pelletier each added a goal for Fort Kent, while Jamie Pelletier also had an assist.

Kelsie Bouchard and Elizabeth Morneault stopped all three shots they faced for 5-3 Fort Kent. Erica Lyford and Shelisha Clark stopped 21 of 40 shots for 0-3 Penquis of Milo.

The game was halted deep into the second half after a Penquis player was taken to a local hospital with a possible broken leg.

Bucksport 5, Caribou 0

At Bucksport, Cassie Gourley scored two goals and assisted another to give Bucksport the win.

Keely Sullivan had a goal and two assists for 3-1 Bucksport. Lindsey Gordon and Paige Pelletier added goals. Katie Hurd blocked both shots.

Brittany Doak and Karyn King combined to make seven saves on 22 shots for 2-3-1 Caribou.

Easton 6, East Grand 0

At Danforth, Kasey Lovely scored four goals to lead Easton to victory over East Grand.

Molly White and Brianna White each netted a goal for Easton. Brianna White and Taylor Burtt combined to make 22 saves on 26 shots for the 1-10 Bears.

Courtney Lloyd stopped four of 10 shots for the 0-4 Vikings.

Ashland 0, Katahdin 0 (2OT)

At Ashland, Taylor Baker stopped 13 of 15 shots for 3-3-1 Ashland in a scoreless, double-overtime match.

Kayla Stevens made 11 saves on 15 shots for 2-3-1 Katahdin of Stacyville.

George Stevens 3, MDI 0

At Blue Hill, Winslow Brokaw scored two second-half goals to lead unbeaten George Stevens Academy past Mount Desert Island of Bar Harbor.

Laura Overton added a second-half goal for the 4-0 Eagles. Alida Peake and Emily Peake each had an assist. Kayla Eaton stopped 10 of 13 shots.

Bridgette Pratt turned away 17 of 23 shots for the 0-3 Trojans.

JV: George Stevens 4-1

Foxcroft Acad. 5, Dexter 0

At Dover-Foxcroft, Leslie Martin scored three first half goals to lead Foxcroft Academy to victory.

Lindsay Chase and Bryanne Clawson each scored a goal and recorded an assist while Megan Taylor added an assist. Sarah Whittemore stopped all 14 shots she faced for the 1-0-2 Ponies.

Ashley Richardson made 25 saves on 30 shots for the 1-2-1 Tigers.

Boys soccer

Caribou 4, Bucksport 0

At Bucksport, Kyle Corrigan scored two goals to push Caribou to victory.

Jarryd Rossignol scored a goal and assisted another for 5-2 Caribou. Caleb Rosser added a goal and Caleb Swanberg provided an assist. Chad McCarthy stopped all three shots.

Miles Bisher made 21 saves on 32 shots for 1-3 Bucksport.

JV: Caribou 5-1

SAHS 3, CAHS 2 (2OT)

At Mars Hill, Tyler Robinson scored the winning goal with 1:30 left in the second overtime to lead Southern Aroostook of Dyer Brook past Central Aroostook.

Rob Toothaker tied the game a two apiece 23:04 into the second half for the 4-2 Warriors. Logan Edwards scored in the first half on a direct kick. Colby Clark turned away 25 of 28 shots.

Travis McDonald and Sam Clockedile scored unassisted goals for the 8-2-1 Panthers. Logan McCarthy blocked 12 of 15 shots.

Fort Kent 5, Penquis 0

At Fort Kent, Matt Harvey stopped the only shot that he faced to lead Fort Kent to the shutout win over Penquis of Milo.

Sherman Pelletier, Joe Soucy, Derek Bonefant, Shane Theriault and Corey Voisine provided goals for Fort Kent.

Brian Zwicker stopped 20 of 53 shots for the Patriots.

Ashland 6, Katahdin 0

At Ashland, Jeremy Tarr scored two goals and assisted on another to lead Ashland to victory.

Carl Nemer had a goal and two assists for the 5-1-1 Hornets and Tyler Cote added a goal and an assist. Jesse Martin and Casey Cobb each scored a goal. Kevin Baker stopped all 12 shots.

Matt Tarr made two saves on 18 shots for 4-2 Katahdin of Stacyville.

Calais 2, Houlton 0

At Houlton, Corey Johnston and Nate O’Neil each scored to lead Calais past Houlton. The game was called at halftime for lightning.

Scott Geel stopped all four shots for 2-0 Calais.

Eben Thompson made two saves on four shots for 4-4 Houlton.
