A Bangor man challenged three young men to a fight on Tuesday then pulled out a .40-caliber handgun, aimed it at one of the men, and said, “Let’s go.”
The man with the gun, Ryan Gaudet, 21, was charged with criminal threatening with a firearm and carrying a concealed weapon without a permit.
When police found Gaudet emerging from between houses on Somerset Street, he still had a backpack with him and a loaded gun clip, but no gun, Bangor police Officer James Dearing reported. The gun was found in some bushes by the houses.
The three men, ages 17 to 21 and all from Bangor, told Bangor police Officer Edward A. Mercier that he followed them as they walked downtown on State Street and that he was making comments to them they couldn’t understand.
When they stopped farther up State Street to confront Gaudet about what problem he had with them, Gaudet walked down French Street about 17 feet and pulled out the holstered gun.
An accident on Broadway in Bangor on Wednesday morning led to the arrest of one of the drivers after police determined he was wanted on a warrant and his license was suspended.
Michael Vose, 21, was heading north on Broadway in one lane and merged into another lane, but because of a blind spot, he told police, he didn’t see the other vehicle. Vose’s SUV struck the side of a pickup truck driven by Michael Rines, 27, of Bucksport, Bangor police Officer Brad Hanson reported.
A records check determined that Vose was wanted on a warrant out of Washington County for failure to pay a fine on a disorderly conduct conviction and he was arrested. Vose was also charged for operating a motor vehicle after license suspension.
A woman out on bail for charges including theft was arrested Tuesday afternoon after it was reported she took four shirts from J.C. Penney in the Bangor Mall without paying for them.
The woman, Danielle Hazelton, 26, of Hampden, was seen putting four shirts, valued at nearly $58, into her purse and she left the store. She was charged with theft and with violating bail conditions after Bangor police Officer James Dearing determined she was out on bail from a theft charge in August. She was also out on bail from an earlier charge of operating a motor vehicle after suspension.
