Hill, Carmichael spark Presque Isle past Houlton

PRESQUE ISLE – Ethan Hill scored two goals and assisted on another as undefeated Presque Isle cruised to its fifth win of the season, 5-1 over Houlton in high school boys soccer action Wednesday.

Steve Carmichael scored twice for the 5-0 Wildcats and Logan York added a goal. Parker Hovey and Gerard Desjardins both provided an assist. Adam Kingsbury and Dillon Kingsbury combined to stop four of five shots.

Chris Howland scored a second-half goal on a Parker Brown assist for 4-5 Houlton. Eben Thompson made 17 saves on 22 shots.

Caribou 2, Fort Kent 1

At Caribou, Kyle Corrigan scored two first-half goals to push Caribou to victory.

Caleb Swanberg provided both assists for the Vikings. Chad McCarthy turned away five of 10 shots.

Derek Bonenfant scored an unassisted second-half goal for Fort Kent. Matt Harvey stopped 11 of 18 shots.

JV: Caribou 2-0

Washburn 8, Wisdom 3

At Saint Agatha, Matt Connolly had a hat trick with three goals to lead Washburn to the win.

Adam Thompson and Caio Holland added two goals apiece for 7-2-2 Washburn and Ethan Doody scored a goal. Shayne Stevens made five saves.

Alex Michaud scored two goals for 0-11 Wisdom and Randy Thibeault had a goal. Curtis Collin stopped 16 shots.

Van Buren 1, Ashland 1 (2OT)

At Ashland, Ben Doucette scored on a Brandon Boulware assist with 2:50 left in the first half to help force overtime for Van Buren.

Andrew Taylor made five saves on eight shots for 7-0-2 Van Buren.

Sweeper back Isaac Ward scored an unassisted goal with 13:13 left in regulation to tie the game at one apiece for 5-1-2 Ashland. Kevin Baker stopped 26 of 33 shots.

Calais 4, Woodland 1

At Woodland, Corey Johnston scored twice to lift Calais past Woodland.

Robbie Rogers had a goal and an assist for the 4-0 Blue Devils. Brandon Tomah added a goal and John Deacon provided an assist. Scott Geel stopped eight of 14 shots.

Cody Sappier scored a first-half goal on a Jeremy Burke assist for the 3-1 Dragons. Todd Thompson made 10 saves on 17 shots.

Lee 5, Penquis 1

At Milo, Branden Crocker scored two goals to push Lee Academy past Penquis.

Tom Bird, Peter Pickering, and Young-Huan Jan each added a goal for the 2-0 Pandas. Devan Parker and Dean McDonald both had an assist. Jonathan Connick made nine saves on 11 shots.

Dylan Lyford scored on a penalty kick in the second half for 0-4 Penquis. Brian Zwicker stopped 22 of 30 shots.

Girls soccer

So. Aroostook 6, Woodland 0

At Dyer Brook, Kaylea Collier scored three goals to lead Southern Aroostook to victory.

Brittany Charette had two goals and two assists for the 6-0 Warriors and Evangeline Goodall added a goal. Emily Cummings and Erin Caswell combined to save 10 of 13 shots.

Cindy Bergin stopped four of 19 shots for 1-4 Woodland.

Presque Isle 6, Houlton 0

At Presque Isle, Angela Norsworthy scored two goals to lead Presque Isle past Houlton.

Sarah Porter had a goal and two assists for the 6-1 Wildcats and Sarah Gonsioroski added a goal and an assist. Kayla Legassie and Lindsie Lapointe each added a goal. Molly Hamel and Allisen Donovan combined to stop three of five shots.

Bethany Targonski made 21 saves on 42 shots for the 3-6-1 Hawks.

Van Buren 3, Ashland 1

At Ashland Megan Lajoie scored two goals to lead Van Buren past Ashland.

Lindsay Lajoie scored a goal and assisted two others for 8-1 Van Buren. Krista Deschaines turned away five of seven shots.

Mindy Chasse scored in the second half on a Autumn Cobb assist for the 3-4-1 Hornets. Taylor Baker made 13 saves on 16 shots.

Washburn 2, Wisdom 0

At Saint Agatha, Kristen Goupille scored an unassisted goal with 37:19 left in the first half to lead Washburn.

Rachel Palmer added an unassisted goal with 10:26 left in the first for the 10-1 Beavers. Amber Palmer stopped four of six shots.

Kayla Daigle made 19 saves on 25 shots for 4-7 Wisdom.

Calais 0, Narraguagus 0 (2OT)

At Harrington, Steph Perry turned away seven of 12 shots to preserve the double-overtime tie for 3-0-1 Calais.

Sam Baker made eight saves on 10 shots for 0-1-2 Narraguagus.

Ellsworth 8, MDI 0

At Ellsworth, Maggie Harding scored two goals and assisted two others to lead Ellsworth to the win.

Jen Richter had two goals and an assist for the 5-0 Eagles. Kelsey Crowley scored two goals as Emily Lyons and Casey Wyman each had a goal and an assist. Catie Cravens stopped all three shots.

Brigitte Pratt made 14 saves on 22 shots for 1-4 Mount Desert Island.

JV: Ellsworth 2-0

Searsport 1, Orono 0

At Searsport, Tianna Faunce scored on an assist from Abby Landmesser midway through the first half to lead the Vikings to victory.

Landmesser sent Faunce in with a pass on the left wing, and Landmesser scored with a shot inside the far goalpost.

Amanda Chaney made six saves on 12 shots for 2-2 Searsport, while Brittany Pinkham made 15 saves on 23 shots for 2-2-1 Orono.
