Two local women were injured Thursday in a rear-end collision on Route 15. Wanda Weymouth, 52, of Abbot had slowed down to turn into a driveway near the Guilford-Abbot town line at about 8 a.m. when a vehicle driven by Ramona Smith, 33, of Abbot collided with the back of her vehicle, according to investigator Jamie Kane of the Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Department. Both women were southbound when the accident occurred. Kane said Weymouth had activated her blinker. Weymouth complained of pain in her neck and back, and her passenger, Joanne Thibeau, 52, of Abbot, who struck her head on the window, suffered head injuries, he said. Weymouth was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, but Thibeau was not, Kane said. Both women were treated at Mayo Regional Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft and released. Neither Smith nor her two young daughters who were passengers in her vehicle were injured. Kane said all three were wearing seat belts. Damage to Smith’s 1988 GMC pickup truck was estimated at $1,200, and Kane estimated damage to Weymouth’s 2002 Dodge Caravan at $5,500. No charges are pending.
