Suspect in Enfield robbery still at large

BANGOR – Bail was set Thursday for the second of three suspects in Monday’s armed robbery of an Enfield couple, while the search for the third man continued.

Scott Lord, 41, of Enfield has been charged with robbery. After his appearance in 3rd District Court in Bangor, he was ordered held at Penobscot County Jail on $20,000 cash or $100,000 surety, Penobscot County Assistant District Attorney Jim Diehl said Thursday afternoon.

It was the same bail amount set one day earlier in the same Bangor court for Daniel D. McComb, 22, of Lincoln, who police said was involved with Lord and David Michaud, 25, a transient, who remains at large.

“We’re continuing with an extensive search for Mr. Michaud,” Detective Bill Flagg of the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday afternoon.

A statewide alert has gone out to police agencies to be on the lookout for Michaud, who has been described as dangerous.

According to court documents, it was Michaud who wielded a baseball bat with spikes in it, striking the man and woman inside the Enfield home about 5 a.m. Monday.

Both suffered puncture wounds. The man was struck in the back of the head, while the woman was struck on her arm and had a bruise across her back, according to court documents. They were treated at Penobscot Valley Hospital in Lincoln and then released.

As well as being wanted for the robbery, Michaud is wanted on several warrants in unrelated cases, Flagg said.

Penobscot County sheriff’s deputies were called to the Enfield residence when the couple reported that at least two men with T-shirts wrapped around their faces had kicked in their front door about 10 minutes earlier and assaulted them in their bedroom.

When deputies interviewed McComb on Monday evening, he admitted that he drove Michaud and Lord to the home early that morning, according to court documents. McComb allegedly told police the three went to the home looking to steal drugs and money from the residence.
