Jacob, 6, energetic and loving

Jacob, 6, is an energetic, loving and social young boy with a magnetic personality.

He entered care in November 2003 due to neglect and emotional abuse. Due to his youth and his current emotional development, Jacob has difficulty expressing his emotions. This can have an impact on his daily behavior and ability to self-regulate his emotions and reactions.

He participates in therapy and has made gains in appropriately expressing his feelings and discussing his experiences.

Jacob is able to form attachments with his caregivers. He responds well to the structure and nurturing that he receives in his current foster home. He needs a family that will be patient with him and has an understanding of his emotional needs.

This child will require a family that is familiar with special needs and willing to dedicate themselves to Jacob by accepting him for who he is and where he is at.

Jacob is a child in constant motion. He will require active parents who are able to channel his energy into positive and creative outlets. Jacob responds well to a calm, consistent approach with clear and concise expectations. He would benefit from a family that is active and would provide him safety, love, structure and stability. He does well interacting with two other children his age in his current foster home.

An adoption subsidy may be available to the most appropriate family.

Jacob is one of the 155 children currently in Maine Department of Health and Human Service’s care who are seeking an adoptive family.

Based in Gardiner, A Family for ME is a nonprofit program that works in collaboration with Maine DHHS to find foster and adoptive families for Maine children in care.
