MILLINOCKET – Steve Robinson rushed for two touchdowns and completed a 24-yard pass to Dontai Keith for another to lead Dexter to a 33-6 high school football victory over the Stearns Minutemen Friday night.

Josh Cousins rushed 16 times for 83 yards and returned an interception 90 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter for the Tigers. Ben Spizuoco rushed 9 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter.

Luke Stahl caught a 35-yard TD pass from Jordan Burleigh in the third quarter for Stearns.

Cory Barnett had 18 tackles for the Minutemen, and Caleb Wallace added 13 tackles.

John Bapst 27, MCI 13

At Pittsfield, Charlie Merritt completed a 16-yard pass to Ryan Moriarity for a touchdown in the second quarter and added another with a one-yard run in the fourth to help lead John Bapst of Bangor to the win.

Nick Smith scored a touchdown in the third quarter on a 20-yard run for the Crusaders and threw a 28-yard pass to Aaron Healey in the fourth quarter for a touchdown.

John Bapst totaled 185 yards rushing.

Adam Audette ran in a score from 35-yards out for Maine Central Institute and Shawn Bennett scored a touchdown on a 17-yard run in the third quarter.

At Brewer, senior running back Dan Fortune ran for two touchdowns and 103 yards on 17 carries to help lead the Tigers by the Witches at Doyle Field.

Junior quarterback-safety Kyle Stilphen turned in the game’s best overall performance. Offensively, he ran five times for 35 yards and a touchdown, completed four of 11 passes for 83 yards, and threw two TD passes. Defensively, he recovered a fumble and ran it back 70 yards for a TD, and had an interception as well.

“We were looking for improvement, whether we won or lost, and that’s what we got,” said Gardiner coach Matt Brown. “So much of it is confidence at this point in the season and we gained some. It’s one to grow on for us.”

Senior linebacker Anthony Ngo paced Brewer’s defense as the leading tackler.

Pine Tree Conference leading tackler Peter Caradonna once again led the Tigers in tackles while playing for injured junior linebacker Brad Carleton.

At Bar Harbor, Jon Hall rushed for 88 yards on 23 carries and two touchdowns as Mount Desert Island shut out Hampden.

Senior quarterback Sean Parady racked up 67 yards on 12 carries and threw a 16-yard touchdown pass to Collin Walton for the Trojans.

Wes Chipman tallied eight tackles and three sacks, and Danny Dunn had five tackles and an interception for MDI.

Eddie Becker paced the Broncos with 10 carries for 40 yards.

At Belfast, Jon Walsh rushed nine times for 106 yards and four touchdowns to lead Belfast.

Travis Lee had 19 carries for 146 yards and scored two touchdowns for the Lions. Lee also added three two-point rushing conversions and two extra-point kicks.

Rick Bernosky rushed 1 yard for a fourth-quarter touchdown with Murphy Macleod adding the two-point rush.

Nick Brown ran in two touchdowns for Oak Hill of Sabattus, and Tony Vattaro had a 2-yard TD run.

The Tigers ran the ball 48 times for 272 yards.

Freshman Sam Weiss added his first touchdown, and recorded a quarterback sack in the end zone for a safety.

The visiting Red Riots were led by Jared Bussell, who gained 126 yards on 19 carries.

Aaron Champagne scored on a 16-yard run in the first quarter for Lawrence of Fairfield and David Wallace scored in the third on a five-yard run.

Ben Viollette completed a 15-yard pass to Jed Crommett in the fourth quarter for the Bulldogs. Mark Ashland converted all five extra-point kicks.
