WATERVILLE – Ryan Howes scored the winning goal on a penalty kick with 24:05 left in the second half to lead Unity College to a 3-2 men’s college soccer victory over Thomas College Monday.

Matt Pickowicz scored two goals for 4-1 Unity and Howes provided an assist. Tyler Ferguson stopped seven of nine shots.

Unity coach Gary Zane recorded with 200th victory.

Matt Peck and Tyler Simpson both scored first-half goals for 0-4 Thomas. Russell Beckwith made seven saves on 10 shots.

UNE 2, Mount Ida 0

At Biddeford, Ryan Tarr of Hermon scored a pair of goals to lead the University of New England to the win.

Jon Bangor and Derek Poulin combined to make four saves for the 1-2-1 Nor’easters.

Brian Leighton had five saves for 3-2 Mount Ida.
