Bangor man, 21, accused of assault at McDonald’s

A Bangor man was arrested Monday evening after he allegedly punched a man in the head outside the Hogan Road McDonald’s.

Ryan Gaudet, 21, of Bangor was in his car with two friends in the McDonald’s parking lot around 5 p.m., according to reports, when he saw a man who had called the police on him about a week earlier for having a gun in the same parking lot. Gaudet got out of the car and ran after the other man, pointing and saying, “That’s the one that called the cops.”

When Gaudet caught up to the man in the Bangor Savings Bank parking lot, he punched him in the head above his right ear. Army recruiters and a few Marines saw the attack and ran out to assist, according to police.

Gaudet and his friend got back in their car and left before the recruiters got there.

The army recruiters said one of the men had said the other had a knife, said police. No one involved admitted to having a weapon of any kind.

Police found Gaudet at his residence later that evening, arrested him and took him to Penobscot County Jail where he was given an Intoxilyzer test. His blood alcohol level was 0.15 percent.

Gaudet was charged with violation of previous bail conditions, assault, terrorizing and tampering with a victim. No one else was charged in the incident.
