Edwards sparks Bangor Quarterback play also key to wins by Ponies, Lynx

AUGUSTA – Ian Edwards completed five of six passes for 130 yards, including four touchdowns, to lead Bangor to a 34-7 rout of Cony in high school football action Friday night.

Shane Walton caught a TD pass and also ran in a touchdown for Bangor. He had five carries for 34 yards. Alex Gallant caught a 46-yard TD pass in the first quarter from Edwards.

Ryan Weston caught a 25-yard pass for a score and Kyle Vanidestine had a 19-yard reception from Edwards for Bangor.

Vanidestine had eight carries for 39 yards and converted four of the five extra-point kicks.

Gabe Hinds completed a 25-yard pass from Joe Drake for a touchdown in the fourth quarter for Cony. Hinds completed six of 19 passes for 91 yards.

At Orono, Max Alley led a balanced offensive attack with 104 yards rushing on 10 carries and a 1-yard touchdown plunge as Boothbay rolled past Orono.

Tim Stover scored on runs of 6 and 2 yards and finished with 70 yards on nine carries for the Seahawks. Roy Arsenault completed a 55-yard touchdown pass to Pat Norton to open the scoring.

Jarred Bussell had 22 yards on seven carries and Colin Bates 25 yards on six carries for the Red Riots. Bruce Nason notched 13 tackles and Brian Hennigan 10.

At Dover-Foxcroft, quarterback David White completed four of eight passes for 121 yards and two touchdowns and rushed five times for 71 yards and a touchdown as Foxcroft Academy remains undefeated, downing Maine Central Institute of Pittsfield.

Brad Bellemare rushed for 44 yards on six carries and fullback Ben Provost had 37 yards on seven carries for the Ponies.

MCI quarterback Zach Doiron went 5 for 19 for 79 yards.

At Belfast, Travis Lee racked up 145 yards on only seven carries and scored on touchdown runs of 66 and 29 yards as the Lions rolled out to a 35-0 first-quarter lead en route to the win.

Ricky Bernosky returned a punt 60 yards for a score and added an 8-yard TD scamper. Alex Mansfield scored two touchdowns on runs of 13 and 9 yards and Jake Arthers added a 36-yard TD run.

Jake Lukas scored on a 36-yard run for the Coyotes.

At Lincoln, Derek Libbey caught four passes for 110 yards and two touchdowns, and quarterback Shey Garner was 8 for 12 for 160 yards and two touchdowns to lead Mattanawcook past Dexter.

Libbey opened the second half with an 86-yard kickoff return for a touchdown and returned an interception for 32 yards. Libbey also recorded seven tackles. Gardner rushed for two touchdowns and had 10 tackles.

Brady Vose had 17 carries for 140 yards and a TD for the Lynx. Nathan Nevells notched 10 tackles, and Isaac Young had eight tackles and a sack.

Quarterback Steve Robinson led the Tigers with 65 yards on 8-for-26 passing, rushing and throwing for a touchdown.

At Hampden, Stephen Siviski completed two touchdown passes to Kevin McCabe in the second half to help keep Winslow undefeated.

Cory Bezanson scored on a 49-yard touchdown run for Winslow. Justin Lindie scored on runs of 37 and 2 yards. John Goulette added a 2-yard TD run and James Wood had a 5-yard TD run.

Ben Poulin converted all five of his extra point kicks and a 20-yard field goal for the Black Raiders.

Kyle Ross ran 109 yards on 21 carries and scored a touchdown for Hampden Academy. Bob Seger had 19 carries for 88 yards and scored a touchdown in the second quarter. Seger also had seven tackles.

Matt York had eight tackles for the Broncos, and Mike Butler added six.
