James is a very pleasant 15-year-old who has won the hearts of most who come into contact with him.
James has bright blue eyes and a quick smile. He is a sensitive and quiet-spoken teenager who speaks when he has something to say.
James is a fan of Spiderman and has many Spiderman posters in his room. He also is a huge Red Sox fan, and his favorite player is Trot Nixon.
James had a great time participating in a WGME 13 “Thursday’s Child” while meeting members of the Portland Sea Dogs baseball team. He had a great swing and hit many of the balls the players pitched to him in the batting cage.
James has been in foster care for much of his life, and he has experienced many transitions and disrupted attachments. Loss and abandonment have affected James’ relationship skills and trust in those who care for him. Despite some cognitive challenges, he has a strength for understanding very concrete information.
James will benefit greatly from having adults who will maintain an unconditional commitment to his well-being throughout his life.
James is one of the 155 children currently in Maine Department of Health and Human Service’s care who is seeking an adoptive family.
Based in Gardiner, A Family for ME is a nonprofit program that works in collaboration with Maine DHHS to find foster and adoptive families for Maine children in care.
