Ahhh … shopping. A good shopping trip, even if you don’t buy anything, can be the best medicine in the world for many women, including myself.
With a plethora of new stores now open in the Bangor Mall area, we’ve seen many changes. One of those is the changing of Filene’s to Macy’s. With the WE’s newest reality show, we can all take a look behind the scenes at what it takes to run one of the world’s most well-known and historic department stores.
“Unwrapping Macy’s” is scheduled to premiere at 10 p.m. Sept. 30. The previews I received in the mail are excellent, and as a self-proclaimed shopaholic, I know I’ll be tuning in.
The show gives a sneak peak at how the Macy’s catalog is put together, how the models are chosen, and how designers get their creations to become a Macy’s product and household name.
But it’s not all about the product.
Even if you don’t shop at the store, almost everyone in America has at least one memory of watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade while the turkey is in the oven and the potatoes are being mashed.
“Unwrapping Macy’s” shows how it all happens – from the performers to the unforgettable Macy’s balloons.
The Man on the Couch didn’t weigh in on this one, and although I’m pretty sure it’s not for him, he has discovered a reality show he wants to be part of.
Howie Mandel’s “Deal or No Deal” surpassed my expectations, and its out-of-this-world ratings caused NBC to air the show four nights this week. It’s all about luck, and when Mandel puts $6 million on the line, emotions run high.
Contrary to The Man on the Couch, I’m not a Mandel fan, but even I was able to get over my dislike for the host when they upped the stakes this week from $1 million to $3 million in Monday’s episode. And by the end of the week, it was up to $6 million.
What we want to know is, where do they get the money to give away?
Even those of us watching at home can win now by text messaging or playing online during the show. To play, go to www.nbc.com/DealorNoDeal.
