BANGOR – KaroleAnne Emery and Erica Dorso both recorded two goals and two assists to lead Husson College to a 9-0 field hockey victory over Elms College Sunday.
Michelle Barden tallied a goal and an assist for the 4-2 Eagles. Elisha Dorso, Shannon Pietras, Erin Nason and Shawna Bell each chipped in with a goal. Dana-Jo Gardner, Heather Gulesian and Nicci Burton had an assist apiece. Kelly Bocchino made four saves on four shots.
Colleen Strunk had nine saves on 21 shots for 0-8 Elms.
Trinity 2, Colby 1 (OT)
At Hartford, Conn., Saturday, Marisa Shutte scored two goals, including the game-winning goal 5:43 into overtime, to power Trinity.
Chrissy Maloney scored an unassisted goal for the 0-3 White Mules of Waterville with 7:11 left in the game. Jamie Enos made 13 saves on 15 shots.
UMaine drops two
At Orono, Jaime Cassesse and Jennifer Kinchia each scored a goal to help Quinnipiac rally for a 2-0 win over the Black Bears Sunday, one day after Providence beat Maine 4-1.
In Saturday’s game, the 9-1 Friars scored three second-half goals, including two from Melissa McGow. Katie Flaherty scored off a Kristen Healy assist for Maine. Rebecca Giroux made 10 saves on 20 shots.
In Sunday’s game, Quinnipiac’s Jenna Grossman stopped 11 of 22 shots to preserve the win.
Maine’s Kim MacDonald scored to give the 3-7 Bears an early lead. Maygan Cassarino made three saves on 10 shots.
USM 5, Plymouth State 2
At Gorham Saturday, India Lowe scored two goals and added an assist as the Huskies rolled.
Jennifer Gagnon notched a goal and an assist for 3-5 Southern Maine. Samantha Johnson and Brianna Thompson scored a goal apiece and Caitlin Albert tallied an assist. Allie Hill made 16 saves on 19 shots.
Katie Randall stopped 10 of 19 shots for the 3-3 Panthers.
Castleton State 2, Saint Joseph’s 1
At Castleton, Vt., Saturday, Carolyn Griggs and Heather Brock scored a goal apiece to lead Castleton State.
Darcey Ward scored off a Julie Ostrowski assist for the 1-4 Monks of Standish.
Volleyball
Maine drops three matches
At Boston, Mass., the University of Maine Black Bears dropped a pair of matches to Dartmouth and Harvard on Saturday and were beaten by Northeastern on Sunday. The Bears are now 2-11.
In the first match, Maine fell to Dartmouth 30-18, 30-25, 30-27. Maine’s Lindsay Allman had 12 kills, two blocks and four digs. Jessica Wolfenden recorded 22 assists and eight digs and Jennifer Domer had seven kills.
In the second match, Harvard downed Maine 35-33, 30-23, 25-30, 30-21. Senior Shelly Seipp recorded a match-high 56 assists in the loss. Allman had 22 kills, and Domer and Brittany Kiehl had 15 and 10 kills, respectively.
In the third match, the Black Bears concluded its non-conference schedule losing 30-25, 30-22, 30-22 to Northeastern.
Seipp led Maine with 32 assists and nine digs. Allman and Wolfenden each tallied 12 kills.
