Lee rolls past Warriors Pandas hand Southern Aroostook its first defeat

DYER BROOK – Amanda Gifford had four goals and an assist as the Lee Academy Pandas handed the Southern Aroostook Warriors their first loss of the season, 10-3, in high school girls soccer action Monday.

Aarika Ritchie had three goals, Kimmy Thurlow two, and Brooke Harris one for the 7-1 Pandas. Karin Bird made seven saves on 13 shots.

Kaylea Collier and twin sisters Evangeline Goodall and Liz Goodall each scored a goal for the 9-1 Warriors. Erin Caswell and Emily Cummings combined for five saves on 24 shots.

Fort Kent 6, Searsport 1

At Searsport Saturday, Marissa Albert and Nicole Chasse each had a pair of goals as the Warriors earned the win.

Emily Pelletier and Jamie Pelletier chipped in with a goal apiece. Kelsie Bouchard made 12 saves on 19 shots.

Brittany Kingsbury scored for the Vikings and Amanda Cheney stopped five of 17 shots.

Piscataquis 2, Central 1

At Guilford, Mallory Izbicki scored on a direct kick with 4:51 left in regulation to give the host Pirates the win.

Jacklyn Crouse added a goal for 3-0-4 Piscataquis. Jill Martell had 14 saves on 18 shots.

Emily Blackwell scored the lone goal for 1-7 Central of Corinth. Jessica Daniel stopped 15 of 17 shots.

Boys soccer

Caribou 4, Bucksport 2

At Caribou on Saturday, Caleb Swanberg scored two goals and recorded two assists to lift the Vikings past the Golden Bucks.

Kyle Corrigan chipped in with two goals for the 7-4 winners and Chad McCarthy made two saves on four shots.

Teddy Cooke and Patrick Dedmon each scored unassisted goals for the 2-5 Bucks and Miles Bisher made 15 saves on 24 shots.

JV: Caribou 6-0

Calais 6, Machias 1

At Calais, Jeremy Carr and Corey Johnson each tallied two goals to lead Calais past Machias.

John Deacon and Mike Ross added a goal apiece for the 8-0 Blue Devils. Scott Geel made four saves on five shots.

Matt Marshall scored the lone goal for the 2-6 Bulldogs. Mitchell Jenkins stopped five out of 10 shots.

Woodland 8, Jonesport-Beals 1

At Woodland, Cody Sappier had three goals and an assist as the Dragons improved to 5-2.

Jeremy Burke added two goals and two assists, while Chad James and Ben Sears each had a goal and an assist.

Corey Rolfe also scored a goal for Woodland, while Kyle Pike, Jason McLellan and Aaron St. Pierre each had an assist.

Sid Look scored for Jonesport-Beals on an assist from James Kelley.

Tom Cochran and Todd Townsend combined to make nine saves on 13 shots for Woodland.

Jeremy Bassett made 26 saves on 38 shots for 0-6-1 Jonesport-Beals.

Washington Acad. 3, Shead 1

At Eastport, Julian Walsh scored two goals and Steven Knowles added another to power Washington Academy of East Machias to the win.

Josiah Jackson had 10 saves on 12 shots for the 4-3 Raiders.

Dana Mitchell scored for 4-4 Shead and Craig Hastings stopped 11 of 15 shots.

Bucksport 4, Searsport 2

At Searsport, Teddy Cooke netted three goals to lead Bucksport to victory over Searsport.

Dom Kone added a goal and an assist for Bucksport. Miles Bisher made four saves on six shots for the Golden Bucks.

Travis Anderson and Josh Nickerson each scored a second half goal for Searsport. Dan Peach stopped 21 of 25 shots for the Vikings.

Schenck 2, Bangor Chr. 0

At Bangor, Trevor Violette and Kerry Thompson each netted a first half goal to lead Schenck of East Millinocket by Bangor Christian.

Joseph Ruitto and Violette each recorded an assist for Schenck. Lanny Thompson made 16 saves on 23 shots for the 3-5 Wolverines.

Sam McLeod made 12 saves on 20 shots for the 3-5 Patriots.

Field Hockey

Mattanawcook 2, Orono 0

At Orono, Michelle Paul scored two goals in the second half to lead Mattanawcook of Lincoln by Orono.

Sarah French made five saves on seven shots for the 4-3-2 Lynx.

Kristine Kittridge stopped 11 of 15 shots for the 2-7 Red Riots.

JV: Mattanawcook 3-0

Hermon 3, Nokomis 2

At Newport, Lillian Berry scored the second of her two goals with about 10 minutes left in regulation to lift Hermon over Nokomis.

Christine Reynolds added a goal for the 2-6-1 Hawks. Carrie Cole had six saves on eight shots.

Sabrina Vaillancourt and Lauren Lancaster netted a goal apiece for the 4-5 Warriors. Jackie Flye stopped five out of eight shots.

JV: Nokomis 2-0
