LISBON – A member of a Maine Transportation Department survey crew was killed on the job Monday when he was struck by a pickup truck, police said.

Maine State Police did not identify the victim, but the Maine State Employees Association identified him as Mark Peterson, 50, of Hollis.

Peterson was part of a two-person crew working on the Upland Road when he was hit by a truck driven by Michael Stevens, 47, of Lisbon, according to state police.

No charges have been filed, and the accident is under investigation to determine the vehicle’s speed in the 35 mph zone.

At the time of the accident, the two surveyors were wearing reflective vests and standing along the side of the road near the crest of a hill, police said.
