BANGOR – A woman arrested Monday night for allegedly stabbing another woman will make her initial appearance in court today on a charge of aggravated assault.
Bangor police arrested Leah Morrill, 31, of Bangor after it was reported she attacked another woman at the woman’s Pine Street home.
Morrill had gone to visit the other woman, and the two argued. An altercation ensued and the woman said Morrill became upset for no apparent reason, Assistant District Attorney Greg Campbell of the Penobscot County District Attorney’s Office said Tuesday.
The woman said that Morrill damaged the apartment.
Campbell said police reported “the place had been pretty much destroyed” when they arrived.
The woman told police that Morrill hit her with a baseball bat, cut her with a knife and slashed her thigh with a crystal knickknack, Campbell said.
According to the police report, there was evidence of drinking. Morrill told police she traded two Valium pills for two beers from the other woman.
Campbell said other charges might be filed against Morrill. Aggravated assault is a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
