Maine congregations to show global warming film

The film “An Inconvenient Truth,” narrated by former Vice President Al Gore, will be shown in some 50 Maine churches, beginning Sunday.

The HBO documentary “Too Hot Not to Handle,” and a short film, “Lighten Up!” also are being made available to congregations. The short film is sponsored by San Francisco-based Interfaith Power and Light.

Maine Interfaith Power and Light, a nonprofit, membership-based organization that aims to bring residents and organizations together to buy so-called clean electricity, is sponsoring the showings in Maine.

Screening dates at churches in northern and eastern Maine are listed below. For exact times, call churches individually.

Belfast, St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church, Oct. 8.

Belfast, Unitarian Universalist Church, Oct. 1, 3.

Brooksville, Brooksville United Methodist Church, Oct. 1.

Camden, St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church, Oct. 6.

Dexter. First Universalist Church, Oct. 5-7.

Pittsfield. First Universalist Church, Oct. 1, 4.
