Police: Millinocket man on probation gave alcohol, marijuana to children

BANGOR – A Millinocket man on probation for unlawful sexual contact was being held at the Penobscot County Jail on Friday after authorities alleged he provided liquor and marijuana to 12- and 13-year-olds.

During a hearing in 3rd District Court in Bangor on Friday, bail was set at $7,500 cash or $20,000 single surety for Eric Hasenbank, 24, who is accused of providing marijuana to several juvenile girls, including two 12-year-olds and a 13-year-old. Even if Hasenbank is able to come up with the bail, he is being held on a probation violation that prevents him from leaving the jail until a hearing is held.

One of the girls told police that she and others had been at Hasenbank’s residence twice in the last two to three weeks and that on the first occasion, Hasenbank gave them cigarettes.

The 13-year-old girl said the next time she and others went to Hasenbank’s house she took a hit from a marijuana cigarette and her 13-year-old boyfriend took three hits, but the others didn’t. She said that Hasenbank asked them to watch a pornographic movie.

Millinocket police arrested Hasenbank early Friday morning. He has been charged with aggravated furnishing of scheduled drugs (marijuana).

Other charges are being reviewed and could be filed against Hasenbank, Assistant District Attorney Brendan Trainor of the Penobscot County District Attorney’s Office said Friday afternoon.

Hasenbank has previous convictions for assault, theft and forgery.

Before his arrest, Hasenbank told police that he “truly believed” that all the people visiting his residence were at least 18 years old. He told police he didn’t provide the young people with marijuana, although he did say he gave them some vodka.

Hasenbank is scheduled for arraignment on Nov. 11.
