Blue Devils bedevil Shires, stay unbeaten

CALAIS – Robbie Rogers, John Deacon, and Corey Johnson netted a goal apiece to lead undefeated Calais to a 3-2 schoolboy soccer victory over Houlton on Saturday.

Scott Geel made three saves on four shots for the 10-0 Blue Devils.

Ryan Hill and Sharif Abouleish each scored a goal. Even Thompson made two saves on seven shots for the 4-7 Shiretowners.

Ellsworth 3, Caribou 2 (OT)

At Ellsworth, Alex Emeigh scored the winning goal with 3:10 left in the first overtime off of a Pat Kelley assist to push Ellsworth to the win.

Emeigh scored all three goals for the 9-1 Eagles. Kelley had two assists and Chris Archer added an assist. Greg Berry stopped five of eight shots.

Caleb Rosser and Kyle Corrigan scored unassisted goals for 7-5 Caribou. Chad McCarthy made 12 saves on 29 shots.

JV: Ellsworth 4-0

Shead 6, East Grand 1

At Eastport, Chris Newman scored a first-half goal to lift Shead over East Grand of Danforth.

Nick Ampungan, Aaron Sullivan, Dana Mitchell, A.J. Seeley and Mike Cummings added goals for the 5-4 Tigers. Craig Hastings made eight saves on 12 shots.

Tyler Lansill scored in the first half for 1-6 East Grand. Rick Parks turned away 14 of 22 shots.

MDI 5, Foxcroft 1

At Bar Harbor, Ben Young scored two goals and assisted on another to lead Mount Desert Island past Foxcroft Academy.

Tarek Dekkaki and Jake Sattler both had a goal and an assist for the 6-3 Trojans. Chad Grass added a goal as John Joseph and Jake Minctons combined to stop three of four shots.

P.J. Bonbero scored a second-half goal for 1-7 Foxcroft Academy. Evan Bridges turned away 17 of 26 shots.

JV: MDI 2-1

Washington Acad. 5, Sumner 0

At East Machias, Cale Stevens and Milos Gautier each netted two goals as Washington Academy cruised past Sumner.

Julian Washington chipped in with a goal for the 7-3 Raiders. Josiah Jackson had three saves on six shots.

Andrew Bennett made nine saves on 25 shots for the 1-9 Tigers of East Sullivan.

Brewer 4, Hampden 2

At Hampden, four unassisted goals stood up against Hampden Academy as the Brewer Witches picked up a point-worthy win.

For the 6-4-1 Witches, Andrew Richardson, Reid McLaughlin, Brad Libby and Aaron Sunders each scored a goal. Chris Brady had five saves on 12 shots.

Jared Stephens and Nick Beal each scored on assists from John D’Haiti and Nick El-Hajj, respectively for Hampden. Jon Lenz made four saves on 13 shots for the 8-3 Broncos.

Calvary Chapel 2, Narraguagus 0

At Harrington, Rosaire Veilleux scored a goal and assisted another to push Calvary Chapel of Orrington to victory.

Luke Thomas added a first-half goal for the 8-1 Sabers and Jon Burke provided an assist. Beau Miller stopped five of six shots.

Brandon Meserve blocked 24 of 26 shots for 1-7-1 Narraguagus.

John Bapst 4, Bucksport 1

At Bucksport, Ian Bamford scored a goal and assisted another to lift John Bapst of Bangor over Bucksport.

Jordan Myers, Andrew Stang and Jon Gagnon scored for the 7-2 Crusaders. Casey Hull provided an assist as Chris Smith blocked three of nine shots.

Teddy Cooke scored a second-half goal on a Jon Goodin assist for the 3-7 Golden Bucks. Miles Bisher blocked 25 of 32 shots.

Girls soccer

George Stevens 5, Searsport 2

At Searsport, George Stevens Academy scored five unanswered goals to roll past Searsport.

Emily Peake and Laura Overton scored two goals apiece and Maddi Park had a goal and an assist. Winslow Brokaw notched two assists and Fiona Schubeck had one assist. Alida Peake made 15 saves on 17 shots for the 8-1-1 Eagles.

Brittani Frisbee and Riana Faunce scored a goal apiece for the 3-5-1 Vikings. Amanda Cheney made eight saves on 13 shots.

Houlton 3, Calais 2

At Calais, Emily Bartlett scored two goals to lead Houlton past Calais.

Liz Herring netted a goal for the 4-6-1 Shiretowners. Stephanie Perry made 20 saves on 25 shots.

Kayla Cobb had two goals and Bethany Targonski made six saves on 10 shots for the 7-2-1 Blue Devils.

Shead 5, East Grand 0

At Eastport, Patricia Candelmo scored three first-half goals to lead the host Tigerettes to victory.

Whitney Remington and Randi Smith each added a goal and an assist for Shead, while Donna Candelmo had two assists and Robyn Stuart had one assist.

Dorothy Pottle and Shelly Melanson combined to stop all six shots they faced for 5-5 Shead. Courtney Lloyd had 11 saves on 23 shots for 0-12 East Grand of Danforth.

Hampden 1, Brewer 0

At Hampden, Michelle Manning scored with 21:31 left in regulation on a Lauren Jadallah assist to lead Hampden Academy past Brewer.

Michelle Wells stopped two of three shots for the 6-5 Broncos.

Carolyn Tuck made 13 saves on 21 shots for the 2-7-2 Witches.

Orono 3, Piscataquis 2

At Guilford, Kate Kelley scored two goals and assisted on another as Orono downed Piscataquis.

Wesley Osterhout added a goal for the 6-2-1 Red Riots. Heather Woodbrey made three saves on five shots.

Cyndi Currier netted two goals and Christine Davis had two assists for the 4-1-4 Pirates. Jill Martell had 14 saves on 19 shots.

Field hockey

Hampden 2, Foxcroft 1 (2OT)

At Hampden, Alisa Hamilton scored with 38 seconds left in the second overtime to lead Hampden Academy to victory.

Tini Lumino scored a first-half goal for the 5-4-2 Broncos. Katie Hessert made nine saves on 10 shots.

Kelsey Boss scored in the second half for 6-4-1 Foxcroft Academy. Renee Maheu blocked 11 of 13 shots.
