Crystal driver charged with OUI Blood alcohol tested five times legal limit

ISLAND FALLS – A Crystal man with a history of driving offenses was arrested Sunday afternoon after police determined that his blood alcohol content was more than five times the legal limit.

Maine State Police Sgt. David McPherson said that Dovon Drake, 40, of Crystal was pursued by Trooper Carman Lilley on the Old Patten Road in Island Falls after police received a tip about a suspected impaired driver.

The 1989 Ford van failed to stop and the driver reportedly attempted to elude Lilley by driving onto an ATV trail.

The vehicle later stopped and the occupants fled on foot, according to McPherson.

Drake, the driver of the vehicle, was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle as a habitual offender, operating an unregistered motor vehicle and operating under the influence.

McPherson said that Drake’s blood alcohol content was 0.41 percent. The legal limit is 0.08 percent.

Drake also was arrested on five outstanding warrants for previous OUI and habitual offender charges.

He was taken to the Aroostook County Jail in Houlton.
