Motorcycle crash hurts Brewer man Veteran rider may have been unfamiliar with the bike he was driving

A Brewer man was injured Saturday when he lost control of the motorcycle he was driving in Holden near the intersection of Clewleyville and Levenseller roads, according to Holden police Lt. Paul Haslam.

The accident was reported shortly before 4 p.m. when Garry Buzzell, 58, of Brewer misjudged the curb and lost control of his motorcycle, ending up in a nearby field.

Buzzell has had his motorcycle license for many years, but police suspect he was unfamiliar with the bike he purchased in June.

Buzzell was wearing a helmet.

“The doctors said that was a contributing factor to his survival,” Haslam said Sunday.

He was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center for a bruise on his forehead and minor internal bleeding, the lieutenant said.

“When I left the hospital last night, he was going to be admitted,” Haslam said.
