Joan Fournier reports folks in the Millinocket area are bringing back an old-time favorite, The Papermaker’s Ball, which she describes as “a dance to get gussied-up” for and a place where you will “meet with old and new friends” on Saturday, Oct. 7.
The new Papermaker’s Ball at the Millinocket Elks Lodge begins with a buffet and cash bar from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Dancing will follow from 8 p.m. to midnight.
Lodge members generously donated the hall for this event. Tickets are just $10 each to enjoy the music of the Portland-based orchestra, The Charles Brown Organization.
Described as “stardust to salsa,” the music dates from the 1940s to today. Tickets are available at North Light Gallery, 723-4414, and Katahdin Federal Credit Union.
In addition to the fun, food and music, door prizes will be offered as well. Fournier wrote that organizers are particularly interested in getting the word out to people who may have moved away from the Millinocket area that this popular event is back in town.
