RICHMOND – Inspectors from the Maine Center for Disease Control will check the Marcia Buker School to make sure traps are safe and that no pesticides harmful to children are being used to counter rats.
Richmond Code Enforcement Officer Douglas Marble said state inspectors also will seek to ensure food in the building is in rat-proof containers.
Marble said Friday he has asked the Sagadahoc County Board of Health to determine if the town is infested with rats.
School officials hired an exterminator a few weeks ago. Businesses and residences also have reported problems with rodents.
