Devils sink Pirates with Trafton goals

CORINTH – Rachel Trafton scored both goals to lift the Central Red Devils to a pointworthy 2-1 high school field hockey victory over Piscataquis Community of Guilford on Monday.

Chantel Randall and Maddie Dunakin each had an assist for the 8-2-2 Red Devils. Sam Morin stopped 15 of 19 shots.

Kellie Martel scored an unassisted second-half goal for the 8-2-2 Pirates. Jessica Pratt turned away 13 of 15 shots.

Girls soccer

Camden Hills 2, MCI 1

At Rockport, Kayla Carleton scored off of a Erika Johnson assist with 3:23 left in regulation to lift Camden Hills past Maine Central Institute of Pittsfield.

Kerry Gross blocked all four shots she faced for the 4-7 Windjammers.

Bianca Asaro made six saves on 10 shots for the 4-5-1 Huskies.

George Stevens 5, Orono 1

At Blue Hill, Laura Overton scored two goals to lead George Stevens Academy to the win.

Alida Peake scored a goal and provided two assists for the 9-1-1 Eagles. Winslow Brokaw and Emily Peak both added a goal and Maddi Park had an assist. Kayla Eaton stopped nine of 10 shots.

Emily Balaban-Garber scored on a direct kick for 7-3-1 Orono. Brittney Pinkham made 10 saves on 20 shots.

JV: George Stevens 8-2

John Bapst 3, MDI 1

At Bar Harbor, Maggie Kane and Whitney Sinclair both had a goal and an assist to lead John Bapst of Bangor past Mount Desert Island.

Ashley Gales scored for the 4-4-1 Crusaders and Torri Gibson provided an assist. Caroline Cassling stopped eight of 15 shots.

Chelsea Bothen scored first-half goal on a Ashley Young assist for the 1-9 Trojans. Bridgette Pratt made 11 saves on 19 shots.

JV: John Bapst 2-1

Penobscot Valley 4, Sumner 1

At East Sullivan, Mindy Dolley tallied three goals and one assist as Penobscot Valley of Howland rolled to its eighth win against two losses and one tie.

Lindsay Drost added a goal for the Howlers and Jamie Milton had 12 saves on 13 shots.

Lona Sargent scored for 4-6 Sumner and Morgan Traxler stopped 12 of 17 shots.

Bangor Chr. 8, DI-Stonington 0

At Deer Isle, Morgan Chasse scored four goals to push Bangor Christian to the win.

Kelly Robinson, Christin Pelletier, Demelza Ramirez, and Libbey Long added goals for the 10-0 Patriots. Moriah Bach stopped both shots.

Anika Powers made 17 saves on 49 shots for 0-7 Deer Isle-Stonington.

Greenville 4, Calvary Chapel 1

At Hampden, Hannah Breton had a goal and an assist as Greenville improved to 7-2 with its triumph over Calvary Chapel.

McKenna Peat, Brittany Boucher and Addie Pelletier scored the other Laker goals with Ruby Rockwell and Nikki Hamilton notching assists along with Breton. Lauren Fling made three saves.

Ashley Pomeroy scored for Calvary Chapel and Hannah Lacadie made seven saves on 31 shots for the 5-3-2 Sabers.

Piscataquis 2, Penquis 1

At Guilford, Cyndi Currier scored the winning goal with 17:50 left in regulation to lead Piscataquis past Penquis of Milo.

Christine Davis scored off of a Mallory Izbicki assist with 4:41 left in the first half for the 5-1-4 Pirates. Jill Martell blocked six of seven shots.

Kayla Webb tied it with 42 seconds left in the first half for the 0-9-0 Patriots. Erica Lyford made 16 saves on 18 shots.

Boys soccer

Calvary Chapel 4, Greenville 3

At Greenville, Ian Seekins scored the winning goal off of a Rosaire Veilleux assist with 5:48 left in the second half to lead Calvary Chapel of Orrington past Greenville.

Veilleux scored twice for the 9-1 Sabers and Luke Thomas added a goal. Beau Miller made six saves on 35 shots.

Kyle Whitman scored two goals for 3-6 Greenville. Corey Woodbury had a goal and Rich Chilson provided an assist. Tim Post blocked 13 of 24 shots.

Carrabec 3, Winthrop 1

At Winthrop, Nic Manzer scored twice to lift Carrabec of North Anson over Winthrop.

Alexi Neclees added a goal for Carrabec. John Neill made 11 saves on 12 shots.

Tim Gingras scored an unassisted goal for Winthrop. Mike Gingras stopped 14 of 19 shots.

MCI 1, Camden Hills 1 (2OT)

At Pittsfield, Alex Sidelinger scored an unassisted goal with 20 minutes left in regulation to force double-overtime for Maine Central Institute.

Benson Bonsu stopped six of 14 shots for the 5-5-1 Huskies.

Christian Wincklhofer scored off of a Josh Dufor assist at the nine minute mark in the first half for 5-4-2 Camden Hills of Rockport. Thomas Sommo made six saves on 14 shots.
