A stolen tape recorder implicated one of two groups of juveniles who allegedly broke into a warehouse late last month rented by Dunham’s Furniture. In one of two break-ins, a group of three girls and two boys, ages 12 to 14, took a tape recorder, a sleeping bag, assorted dishes and a rug. The items were found recently along a nearby brook, but it was the tape recorder that fingered the culprits. The juveniles had taped themselves talking, according to Dexter Police Chief Art Roy. The local juveniles, who climbed under a fence and removed plywood from a door to gain entry, face burglary and theft charges. In another break-in at the warehouse, two local boys, no ages provided, also gained entry by climbing under a fence and forcing open a door, according to the police chief. A flashlight was reported missing, but the juveniles denied they had taken anything from the building, Roy said. The two boys were charged with burglary. All of the juveniles were turned over to their parents for hearings in the juvenile court system, the police chief said.
