A Winterport man was arrested on a charge of operating under the influence after he was found in his vehicle off Essex Street in Bangor early Monday morning, police said.

Officer Jason Stuart said he found Frank Mountain, 60, passed out at about 1 a.m. in the driver’s seat of his vehicle, which was in a ditch.

The vehicle was still running with its headlights on. Mountain didn’t wake up until Stuart opened the driver’s side door. He had difficulty putting the vehicle into park and was visibly intoxicated, police said.

According to police, he told Stuart he had been at Judy’s bar on State Street and some friends had dropped him off. When asked why he was in the driver’s seat of the vehicle, he told police that he didn’t recall driving.

He stumbled getting out of the car and had difficulty standing, the police report said. It said Mountain failed a field sobriety test. At that point, Stuart arrested him for OUI and took him back to the station, where he administered an Intoxilyzer test. Mountain’s blood alcohol content was 0.21percent, police said.
