Two men were arrested and charged with possession and trafficking of illegal drugs Monday afternoon after Hampden police received a tip that someone was violating bail conditions.
Hampden police Officer Marc Egan received the tip around 12:45 p.m. Monday and headed out to the Old Coldbrook Road to see if a woman was at a residence in violation of the resident’s bail conditions.
According to reports, police arrived to find Gerald Hawkins, 52, of Hampden trying to back a car out of the driveway with Jorge Torres, 19, of the Bronx, N.Y.
Searching the house for the woman, police found marijuana, baggies, spoons with white residue on them and an electronic scale instead. Hawkins denied knowing anything about it, according to police, even though the items were in plain view.
Searching Hawkins’ car, police found what appeared to be 13 grams of cocaine.
Both men were arrested and taken to Penobscot County Jail. Hawkins was charged with possession of cocaine, a Schedule W drug, and bail violations. Torres was charged with trafficking in cocaine, a Schedule W drug, trafficking in marijuana, a Schedule Z drug, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Hawkins was not granted bail because he violated previous bail conditions, including agreeing not to commit any crimes. Torres was not able to make bail. Both remained in Penobscot County Jail as of 7:30 Tuesday night.
A Bangor woman was charged with stalking early Tuesday morning after she was caught for the second time on her ex-boyfriend’s fire escape.
Police had caught Elissa Lane, 37, of Bangor on the fire escape at 162 Court St. early Sunday morning, according to reports. On Tuesday she admitted to being on the fire escape again around 2 a.m. after her ex-boyfriend called police to tell them he heard someone outside.
Police had seen Lane’s orange Ford Focus leaving Court Street on their way to the scene and located it on Kenduskeag Avenue soon afterward.
Lane said she just “couldn’t get over their relationship,” said police. She said she left their 13-month-old baby alone in the car while she climbed the fire escape.
Police then returned to the Court Street residence and recorded seven messages that Lane had left over five days, threatening to ruin her ex-boyfriend’s life and saying she’d “be lurking” around, according to reports.
Lane did not want to be arrested because she had the baby with her. She was issued a summons for stalking.
A Bangor man was charged with criminal threatening, criminal mischief and domestic assault Monday after fighting with his girlfriend over a water bill.
A Bangor woman filed assault charges against her boyfriend, Matthew Nicely, 22, of Bangor, at the Bangor Police Department around 7:30 Monday night after he slapped her during an argument.
He then followed her to her parents’ house and rammed her car and her father’s van with his vehicle.
When the woman tried to go to her parents, Nicely wouldn’t let her take their 18-month-old baby with her and threatened to kill her if she called the police, according to reports. The baby was in the car while Nicely was ramming the two cars.
Nicely was charged with domestic assault by the Bangor Police Department and criminal threatening and criminal mischief by the Penobscot County Sheriff’s department.
